All campaigns cleared on Hard now.

In order of preference Marine , Predator, Alien

Marine Campaign was the best and could stand alone by itself against other retail FPS quite easily, tension , fear, claustrophobia, and the scary thud of your motion sensor.

Predator, was a game of 2 halves, the 1st two missions were a chore, you didn't feel like the master hunter, however at the end of the 2nd level you pick up your throwing disc and things pick up. The level after that you get alien vision and your combi stick and you then feel like the Predator.

Alien campaign was good but its way too short , the controls are too fiddly, stealth kills alert the whole room. When it works it bloody great but theses moments are few and far between.

Online is wank.

Im considering going back through on nightmare as I'm confident I can do them, if the frustrating of losing 40 - 50 minutes of progress doesn't get to me.

I finished them on hard, and they go Marine, Alien, Predator for me.

The first half of the Marine campaign were shit scary, but once you got to the Jungle and the 'spitting' Xeno's it lost all its tension. Also, the final boss was a complete joke.

The Alien campaign was great fun, sneaking around was cool, I finally got the hang of running upside down, the final boss was too easy though.

And finally the Predator campaign was such a chore, I never used the cannons (didn't realise I had them) and once I got the throwing stick, I used that all the time. Final boss was shit too, very old skool.

I haven't attempted Nightmare yet, but I guess if you save it regularly and load it up if you die you should be alright.

When you save you save to your last check point.

As there are no check points on nightmare, that means you save to the start of the level.

The first downloadable content for Aliens vs Predator will shortly be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms. Featuring 4 new maps for different multiplayer modes, previously only available in the Special Editions, this downloadable content will challenge all three species for the fight of their existence.

Two new Multiplayer maps for six different online modes (Deathmatch, Predator Hunt, Infestation, Species Deathmatch, Mixed Species Deathmatch and Domination):
- Docks: The caustic alkali waters of BG-386 put an end to Weyland-Yutani’s planned shipping activities.
- Machine: As well as processing exotic ores, the BG-386 Refinery provided electrical power to the colonists at Freya’s Prospect.

Two new Survivor maps in which up to four Marines battle to stay alive against increasing swarms of Aliens:
- Outpost: The site of the original Weyland-Yutani colony on BG-386 was abandoned, and soon reclaimed by the planet’s voracious jungle plant life.
- Hive: Deep in the heart of the Freya’s Prospect Refinery lays the Xenomorph Hive.

The “Swarm Map Pack” will be available on 18 March for €5.99/ £4.79/ 560 Microsoft Points.

Looks like it has sold less than 300K combined on X360 and PS3 in the US:

Not so good that I guess?

I'd had enough of this to be honest, it didn't exactly come at an opportune time when i needed to Essays and therefore couldn't play it for any long period of time and therefore "get into it" but i did complete the Alien campaign and got 2/3rds through the Predator campaign before i was just pushing through it for the sake of completing it rather than enjoying it throughout like a great game should (for me anyway).

Therefore it's gone bye bye to eBay...

Rebellion today confirmed that analysis of player feedback following the launch of the chart-topping Aliens vs Predator will shortly lead to the release of a patch on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Among numerous balancing and weapon tweaks, Xbox Live players will see the removal of long waiting times reported by some players when searching for a ranked match, and improved support for southpaw players. Other modifications include XP being incorrectly affected by offline play and team balancing logic for applicable modes.

Still in two minds over buying this or not...
I love the film franchises so tempted to give it a try.
Suppose if I don't like it I could always eBay it...

Got this on the Steam deal last week and demolished it in a couple of days.

For me: Alien>Marine>Predator.

The Alien campaign was by far the best. They got the feel just right and the kill animations are totally awesome. Very short unfortunately, plus I never actually understood why 6 was doing the things it was doing. What the hell was the purpose of wandering through the different locations and slaughtering everyone? Was it for the sake of killing people or was I supposedly shutting down the equipment as a went through? The controls could be troublesome too since it was too easy to get disoriented after dropping down behind an enemy. Great fun though, and I played through three times in the end.

The Marine campaign was more technically proficient but a little more dull. The weapons felt far too weak and if you analyse it you actually spend long periods of time wandering from place to place not shooting anything - enemies aren't really that numerous. Decent atmospher though.

The Predator they really screwed up. Almost everything about it was wrong. The humans could see through my camoflage half of the time, ammo was too limited (so I barely used the shoulder cannon) and fighting off large swarms of aliens was dull. By the end I was fighting androids, which couldn't be distracted, saw through my cloak even more often and were generally a pain to kill. It wasn't entirely devoid of fun but with a few small changes they could have made it so much better.

It doesn't help that all three campaigns force you through similar, dull tutorials either.

All in all it isn't an amazing game and in no way does it match up to the awesome of AVP2. The kill animations are the only thing that is better in the new game than the old one. Still, a decent amount of entertainment for £16. I'm sure glad I didn't pay £40 to get it on a console though.
