Grizzly's Sonic Collection (Happy birthday sonic!!!)

Postby grizzly on Wed Mar 24, 2010 8:07 pm

Hey guys, i have been talking about focussing my collection recently, something that will make my wallet and myself a bit happier. so i have decided to go for the idea and start collecting every UK Sonic game ever released, this means i will be collecting

Every sonic title for each console
Every game he has appeared in as a cameo
any miscellaneous items i find along the way!

for now the collection is in its infancy so there won't be any particularly rare titles at the moment but rest assured as i find them i will be posting them along with my comments. thanks for looking guys!

i am also interested in trades/buying any sonic games that you may want to get rid of, trade preferable though let me know if you have anything i dont have but do bare in mind that i have yet to upload everything so do ask!

NEW STUFFF!!!!!oneoneone

This is some of the items that i have purchased/acquired recently :) my favourite thing in this picture is the t shirt, which is signed by Takashi Lizuka. the lead developer of Sonic these days.

Are you buying everything Sonic made a cameo in? Because I played something once that had Sonic on it and it will be hella expensive and rare. Like 3000 in the whole world rare.

Yup, it got a UK release. I remember playing this back in the 90's. Not sure you would have the room to store this, and the cameo is quite brief.

HERE.

You can bet he turned up in other SEGA published tables as well. I guess it depends on how far you want to push your collection.

Looks like a nice start to the collection already! Well done! It would be nice to see this collection in a years time when it has grown some more! Sonic is a fantastic franchise to collect for though, and there are plenty of games to go for, including pack-in's, variants (Eg, Platinum / Classics / Player's Choice), and also the same games on different consoles, plus it has its fair share of LE's and CE's etc...

Do you have a list to go by? Are you focusing on any particular console first, such as Mega Drive, or just buying whatever comes your way? Is there anything you know of which you think you may struggle to find, or which may perhaps be a little out of your price range at the moment (Ie, a boxed complete Knuckles Chaotix)?

However, I do think extending to pinball tables might be taking it too far! Lol. With this in mind, do you have a cut-off point, or will you get dragged into buying all sorts of Sonic merchandise? Personally I would stick with just the console and PC games, otherwise you could end up overrun with Sonic plushies with nowhere to store them all, and you'll be back at square one

If it's games with Sonic cameo's in you're after, then Soleil on the Mega Drive has a brief cameo of Sonic sunbathing on a beach in one of the earlier levels. You might also want to check out anything developed by Sonic Team, as they quite often include Sonic as a cameo within their games (Phantasy Star Online being a prime example)

at the moment i dont have much of a console in mind to start with. the joy of the collection for me is to find them as they come, although i do have a list to go by. the ones i think i will struggle with most are the game gear releases, they generally are the hardest ones to find complete and in good nick. knuckles chaotix will be fairly easy to find though its generally on ebay for about £150 so i have put some money by each month until i can afford to just go for it. will need a 32x to play it on though.

as for merch ill probbaly just try and find the stuff i used to have when i was younger such as the adventure books and the wheres wally style book (yes sonic had one of those to) that will all be part of the fun though.

phantasy star's sonic cameo was down to the default names of the character classes weren't they? i always remember them being sonic tails and knuckles when i saw press photos of the games.

If you want to play the game and not bothered about playing it on the original hardware, then I would suggest downloading the GENS emulator and a copy of the game ROM. You're seriously not missing much though - It's one of the low-lights of the franchise

Not too sure on that. However, the game did briefly feature some Sonic Adventure 2 viral advertising in-game back in the day, although I think this may have been for those playing online only. Phantasy Star Online does also feature upgradable Mags which come in a range of designs including the Chao's from the Sonic Adventure games. I am also sure that being a Sonic Team game there are other hidden Sonic references throughout

i found with phantasy star online there are events for sonics birthday in which he shows up. there are also sonic themed weaponry in the game so thansk for the recommendation!
