Vorpal = One clean and sexy shump

http://www.siliconera.com/2010/12/31/vorpal-brings-manga-art-to-shoot-em-up-form/

Trailer at the link
Vorpal is a vertical black-and-white shoot-em-up that looks very reminiscent of manga at times. Developed by Red Wolf for Xbox Live Arcade, the game focuses on one-on-one battles against other ships — almost like a fighter — and dodging their frenzy of bullets and beams.

You can grab Vorpal for 80 points (that’s $1.00) on Xbox Live Arcade, or try the free demo. Here’s the game’s development blog, too, if you’re interested in seeing how Vorpal progressed through development.

Ordered from hmv for the same price but I may cancel and go with shopto instead. Which is most likely to get it to me in good time and not smashed to fuckery?

HMV definitely. 3 special editions ive received from Shopto I received in just a jiffy bag & in shit condition. Ive ordered 2 SE's from HMV & they were properly boxed up & not damaged at all.

Im actually going to cancel my Shopto one & go with HMV now. I didnt know they had it, nevermind for the same price. Thanks for the heads up.

Edit - my only concern is the HMV version doesnt say Deluxe Version anywhere. Although its pictured that version. Hmmm.. Is the Deluxe version the only one we are getting? Kind of like how we were only going to get the Phantom edition of Demons Souls?

Read elsewhere that there is only one version. No idea if that is correct though.

Screens, trailer and cover art for Mamorukun for the PS3.

http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/01/24/mamorukun_bonuses/

Gal games and shooters are pretty much exclusive to Xbox 360 and PSP, so PS3 owners may not be accustomed to some of the perks (?) that go with them -- namely, smutty retail-separate preorder bonuses. That's going to change on March 31 as PS3 gets a version of shooter Mamorukun wa Nowareteshimatta!.

http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/01/21/cave_event/

Shooting specialist Cave will be gathering the press and fans in Akihabara late next month for an event it calls "Important News From Cave 2011."

Set to be held throughout the day on on February 19 at Akihabara's Belle Sale hall, the event will see a merchandise corner, a game demo corner, and a stage event where new announcements will be made.

The event schedule looks like this:

•10:00 to 12:00: Merchandise Corner
•12:30 to 13:30: Stage Event
•13:30 to 17:00: Game Corner
•13:30 to 17:00: Help Wanted Corner
The Stage Event promises introductions to the company's latest console, mobile, online and social games, along with the possibility of surprise announcements.

The Game Corner will have console, mobile, online and social games, along with a present of some form for early arrivers. Games mentioned for play include Muchi Muchi Pork for Xbox 360 (due for release on 2/24) and Shin Megami Tensei Imagine (an MMORPG that's currently in service).

The Help Wanted corner is for those who want to work at Cave. Human resources representatives will be on hand to speak with applicants.

Cave has opened an official Japanese site for the event. Details on goods for the merchandise corner will be announced there.

This is actually the second time we've heard about a February press event from Cave. Late last year, development head Makoto Asada revealed at his blog plans for at least three game announcements.

Bullet Soul might ship region-free

Trailer
http://www.siliconera.com/2011/01/25/bullet-soul-possibly-being-published-on-a-region-free-disc/

Embedded above is a recent promotional video for Bullet Soul. Denpa reports on his site that 5pb. developed Bullet Soul as an homage to Super Star Soldier. Similar to Hudson’s promotions for Star Soldier, 5pb. will be travelling across Japan to track down the best Bullet Soul player they can find.

Bullet Soul comes with three ships/characters, and supports an offline two-player mode. At their event, 5pb. hinted at releasing a demo for the game this March for fans to try. Additionally, as Denpa learnt, 5pb. are also considering releasing the retail game on a region-free disc, which would be a pleasant surprise for import shoot-em-up fans, should things go as planned.

PlayStation 3 owners craving a shoot ‘em up should fire up their Japan region PlayStation Network account next week. Cyberfront, publisher of Mamoru-Kun on PlayStation 3, will release a demo on PSN.

While G. Rev released the game for Xbox 360 last year, Cyberfront put DLC characters on disc, added new modes, and upgraded the graphics. You can see a comparison between the arcade port and PS3 version here. The demo has three characters, two stages, and the new Katsugeki mode made for the PlayStation 3 version. Grab the file on Thursday, March 17.

Mamoru-kun wa Norowarete Shimatta comes out on PlayStation 3 two weeks later on March 31.

I brought deathsmiles (there is only one version) and mostly love the game
the only issue being that the first 6 stages are fairly do-able (on level 1)
but the last 2 stages just jump up the difficulty too much in relation to
the first 6 stages.

Deathsmiles is also coming to the iphone in spring. Along with Espgaluda 2
and dodonpachi thats 3 of cave's games on the platform.

I dl'd espgaluda 2 (just brought a touch) and have to say its a great game
with brilliant controls and beats paying the high price its at over at playasia.

It may not sound like it, but Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony, developed by Final Form Games, is a top-down shoot-em-up…a shoot-em-up set on 17th-century British Colonial Mars. Final Form have included support for up to four players.

Aside from four-player co-op, Final Form also hope to tell an interesting story through Jamestown. The game is in development for PC and is due out this summer, but Final Form say that a release on other platforms will follow.

You can read more about the game at its development blog. Jamestown was recently recognized by the Independent Game Festival for the Audio category. You can listen to some of the game’s music at this link.

New Trailer @ the link.
http://www.siliconera.com/2011/03/23/marmoru-kuns-remixed-music-matched-to-new-trailer/

Cyberfront is bringing Mamrou-Kun Has Been Cursed to PlayStation 3 on March 31. Two packages of the Gulti developed shooter will go on sale, a vanilla game and limited edition.

The limited edition, which costs 8,925 yen ($110), includes a 150 page artbook, a super play DVD titled "Perfect Terror," and a soundtrack CD with arranged music. Cyberfront had composers remix music for Meikai Katsugeki mode, a new mode created just for the PS3 release. Let’s listen.
