Great? Thats a kind appraisal.

Yup, I think it added to the game, if I hear that voice again it makes me feel all nostalgic and reminds me of the great times I had with Shenmue 1 and 2 :D

Can't speak for the new Sega racing game but the first one had the proper voice actor for Ryo which was cool. I'm hoping they'll do the same with this one if Ryu gets in.

Got my WIi U bundle through from ShopTo earlier today and had an absolute nightmare with it so far.

The console, Wii U Game pad and even the Wii U Pro Controller are all a class act, but I've spent the last 2 hours trying to get the internet to work.

For some reason the console just doesn't even recognise the presence of my router with the wired connection (thru Ethernet via Wii LAN Adapter) which was infuriating to say the least, so I've then tried setting up the internet connection via Wi-FI which was (after AGES of trying and tinkering with settings) FINALLY able to connect to the internet just now.

And the console is FINALLY downloading the massive update via Wi-Fi, what a bloody ball-ache

Just for the record; he’s not in the game. He might come as DLC later on, but as of right now, SEGA thought Meemee, Amy and Danica Patrick would be a better fit.

On the other hand, there are still some cool characters in it. I personally love newcomers Vyse, Joe Musashi and the excellent AGES. I won’t spoil what the latter really is, but it’s probably the best vehicle in a fun racer ever.

Yeh think Ryo's one of the DLC characters or something, my NN ID is 'DisturbedSwan' same as my XBL Gamertag, I've sent Friend Requests to you Maryokutai, Platinum, Maf-Me-Quick and Shadowman and Grizzly :)

Only had time to play ZombiU today as I was trying to get the internet set up and then downloading the HUGE update for most of the day.

I knew I would like it but actually playing through it has probably exceeded my expectations to be honest, loved the atmosphere, environments and sense of dread, reminded me of the Condemned series (which I absolutely love aswell) the only bad point so far is that the objectives seem a bit dull, but I'm sure things will heat up as I get further into the game.

As for the Wii U itself, I'm impressed. The Wii U gamepad is pretty cool, feels great in my hands and feels just weighty enough to not feel tacky. The console itself looks smart enough but you hardly realise its there most of the time to be honestas the Wii U Gamepad dominates gameplay and all the Wii U menus are primarily navigated by using the gamepad.

The Wii U menu itself is bloody annoying, it feels like it hasn't evolved atall and it takes AGES to navigate between applications, also things are in strange places. I spent AGES looking for the Friends List to add you guys on here, and its burrowed away in the Wii U home pause menu thing which is extremely hard to find.

I had a little fiddle with MiiVerse and (surprisingly) it seems quite cool, quite facebooky/twittery and a cool place to write messages/share tips with friends and stuff.

Not had a go on my other game (New Super Mario Bros. U) yet but I'm gonna hopefully get round to playing this tomorrow.

Nintendo delays Pikmin 3 in Europe

Fans waiting for the next outing in the long-absent Pikmin series will have to wait a little while longer.
Wii U title Pikmin 3, originally due during the console's Q1 launch window, has been delayed to Q2.
Nintendo of Europe boss Satoru Shibata revealed the new release date during a Nintendo Direct broadcast, according to Eurogamer.
The video confirmed that the next first-party Wii U title will be Sing Party on January 18th. Nintendo will release Wii U Panorama View, software that lets users watch 3D videos from 360-degrees, in Spring.
The platform holder also announced it will publish Warner Bros' Scribblenauts Unlimited as a first-party title. The puzzle game was due for release at launch, but will now arrive on February 8th.
There were plenty of 3DS updates, as well.
March 8th will see the release of Dr Kawashima's Devilish Brain Training: Can You Stay Focused?. Also due that month are Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate, Harmo Knight, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for both 3DS and Wii U.
The first 3DS Animal Crossing, subtitled New Leaf, will arrive in Q2, after Fire Emblem: Awakening in April.

I really wonder why its taking them so damn long to release the game. I've been waiting for PIkmin 3 since it was announce for the Wii, then Wii U hoping to see it around March 2013 at the very latest :(

Well it's because the Nintendo offices are obviously infested with a boris (actual collective term) of bulborbs and all those poor Pikmin have to ferry all that code around... You need like 50 for HD leafy textures.

Played a bit of Super Mario Bros. U today for the first time on my console and thought it was absolute shite, never been a fan of the 2D Mario games, it always feels as if he's moving too slowly and I'm terrible at the game aswell, just within the first world ('acorn park' or something) I died a ridiculous amount of times and got the 'game over' screen and had to restart from about half-way through the world, which meant I had to replay some levels again which was an absolute chore.

Just think they've been done to death, I played 'New Super Mario Bros.' on the DS and thought that was cool as I never played a Super Mario Bros. game before (never had a NES/SNES as a kid, I was a Sega kid and was brought up with Sonic) but since then Nintendo have released another DS game 'New Super Mario Bros. 2', 'New Super Mario Bros. Wii' and now this cash-in.

All the mechanics are typical Mario and the Nintendo music is cutesy and fun but I just can't be arsed with it at the moment, found myself getting infuriated everytime I died and almost chucked the Wii U gamepad through the window.

Played a bit more of ZombiU today and am upto Buckingham Palace (thought it was cool that they play the national anthem as you approach the palace gates), bloody hard so far and died 7 times with the different survivors I've had but very much enjoying it. Love playing in London, seeing familar sights and stuff and love the atmosphere and environments still, the combat is a bit monotonous maybe, and couldn't done with a tiny bit more polish but so far the Wii U has been worth its asking price just to play this so far.

As for Pikmin 3 moving to Q2, it is a ball-ache I agree. I was probably too young to enjoy the original and Pikmin 2 back in the day to be honest and remember thinking 'this is too hard' and giving up about 3 hours in on each game, but I loved the Pikmin, the strategy and the typical Nintendo charm so definitely going to pick up Pikmin 3 when it comes out.

Also had my first freeze today, I pressed the home button on the Wii U gamepad to go back to the main menu after finishing up my ZombiU play session, clicked 'Close Software' on the Wii U gamepad screen and it just hung on the 'Wii u Menu' loading screen.

Strange that you think that. In my opinion, Mario Bros. U is by far the best of the New series. If anything, I’d call both the DS and the 3DS game a cash-in, but the home console versions are really good. NSMB2 especially did hurt the franchise a bit though, so I hope they stop putting them out so frequently from now one. But I’d definitely give it another chance if I were you –– it does become pretty though from the jungle onwards, but if you ignore the star coins on your first playthrough, you should be fine with only a couple of deaths. Also, the whole Miiverse-messaging thing is quite well done in this game.

Yeh, I'll give it another chance over the weekend, I was probably a bit hasty to judge it after my 45 minute/1 hour play through last night to be honest. Not played a NSMB game since the original on the DS as I said so never played the 2nd DS game or Wii version.

Definitely gonna give up on collecting the coins as this was the cause of many of my deaths last night.

I'm really tempted to get myself one of these. I'm just after some honest feedback. How does it compare to the PS3 and 360?

If there was a game available for all platforms would you buy it on the wiiu? Or would you only use this for platform exclusives?

Obviously if it's multiplayer i'd stick with 360 due to more people on live but how would you go with something single player focused?

Read the posts above, myself and many others have put our thoughts on the Wii U, particularly compared to the PS360 consoles.

As for games available on all platforms, it depends what game really. Some games will obviously be better suited to PS360, but others will be a ready made fit for the WiiU.

Take Aliens: Colonial Marines for example, I've had it on pre-order for my 360 for AGES, but cancelled this and pre-ordered the WiiU version as I think it'll be better with the Motion sensor on the WiiU gamepad and the 'bleep, bleep' sound coming out of there rather than the TV, actually super-hyped to play this game on the WiiU as I think it'll rock.

If you want to download a mature rated game, no going to bed early - you're going to have to stay up late...........

Wii U owners can only download adult games between 11pm-3am

Mature-rated video games like Ubisoft's ZombiU can only be downloaded from Nintendo's eShop between the hours of 11pm-3am.

This startling discovery, first reported by CVG, stems from a response issued to an Italian Wii U owner.

“We would like to let you know that Nintendo has always aimed to offer gameplay experiences suited to all age groups, observing carefully all the relevant regulations regarding content access that are present in the various European countries,” the customer support email read.

"We have thus decided to restrict the access to content which is unsuitable to minors to the 11pm - 3am time window."

TheGamersHub.net's Vaughn Highfield has since confirmed that the restriction does indeed apply to the UK.

It is also being suggested that the restriction only applies in Europe.

Considering Nintendo's efforts to win back the traditional core console gamer market with its new machine, the decision seems insane. And won't help persuade those who are unsure about a potential purchase of the machine to jump aboard.

Why not just enable a PIN number, Jeez Nintendo, sometimes you go too far with your 'Nannying'

Pretty much what Blakey said. I’d definitely pick a WiiU version over any other if it brings more content or is running smoother/looks better. Tekken Tag 2 was one such case for example, having a couple of bonus modes as well as all the DLC characters on the disc already on WiiU. Aliens is also a pretty obvious choice while Ninja Gaiden 3 brings a whole lot of new content to the table. It depends on the game really –– Mass Effect 3, as the last piece in a trilogy, makes no sense on WiiU. And Batman is technically not as clean and smooth as on PS360.

Speaking of deaths, I stumbled upon your zombified remains in ZombiU earlier, in front of Buckingham Palace. You were only carrying a molotov and some ammo around though, but it’s a nice touch that you can see where your friends have died.
Currently having a 2 hour survival streak, but I doubt it will go on for long. I really like the game though, more than I thought. It’s really, really tense and can make you fear for your gaming life like nothing else out there.
