I just checked and was vaguely horrified to find I'd clocked 83 hours, and still wasn't finished the main game yet...

I have two characters, both about 30 hours, it didn't keep me that gripped, well I suppose 60 hours combined is gripped enough. :?

I think around 50 hours for my current character, that's with all the guild and main quests done.. All in all I'd say oblivion has eaten about 200 hours of my life.

I wouldn't call it a high score though, just a depressing sign that I have that much time to throw away on a man with purple corn rows.

I'm not sure. Altogether, I think I've played for between 50-70 hours between something like 5 characters. Probably my highest with a single one is about 20.

The Horror... The Horror...

I clocked up well over 100 hours without finishing the main quest, but following an unfortunate "incident" my game saves were wiped and it was all for nought. At least I kept my Achievements.... Phew.

I think I'm going to (finally) start playing this - but I'm finding the whole character creation a little daunting. I keep hearing things about selecting major skills as ones you don't use so that your overall level stays low while your other skills are higher relatively?

You can make it as easy or complicated as you like. Each level you get between 2 and 5 attribute points reward and this is dependant on what skills you've increased, there assigned attribute and by how much. The thing is when you go up a level is based on how many skill points you've gone up in your major skills only so if you end up using only really these you'll mostly just get +2's at level up time.

I started really trying to use minor skills so I'd get +5's but in truth it's way more work than it's worth. Just pick and character, play it how you like and if it starts getting too hard (or easy) just adjust the difficulty meter.
